Why a Premium Internet Provider Is Offering Intro Pricing

8th March 2026

At Launtel we describe ourselves as a premium internet provider.

Now anyone can say that. You can simply charge more and call yourself premium.

But if you're going to do that, you need to actually back it up.

For us that means investing heavily in both the network and the people who support it. Compared to many providers of a similar size, we employ roughly three times as many staff. We do that because good engineers and capable support staff make a real difference to how a network performs and how quickly problems get solved.

That investment costs money. Which means our prices are often higher than the bargain end of the market.

And that creates a very predictable problem.

The Sticker Shock Problem

Most people comparing internet providers start with price.

When they see Launtel they often think:

"Whoa, that's expensive."

And that's usually the end of the conversation.

They never try the service. They never interact with our staff. They never experience the network.

Given the spectacularly bad reputation the telco industry has built over the years, it's understandable that people assume all providers are basically the same.

The Industry's Favourite Trick

Most providers deal with this using introductory discounts.

You get a cheap price for six months, then it quietly jumps. The idea is to get customers through the door and hope enough of them don't notice or don't bother switching again.

This practice is so common that people now call it the "lazy tax".

We've never liked that approach.

Why We Offer Intro Pricing (ok yeah it's a Discount)

In short: we'd rather let you try the service than try to convince you with the usual telco marketing bullshit.

Our intro pricing exists for one simple reason:

to give people a chance to experience Launtel before deciding if it's worth the price.

Think of it as an extended trial.

It's not a trick to lure people in and quietly raise prices later. In fact we will email you towards the end and remind you that it's time to make a choice.

Use the time to experience the network, the support team and how we actually operate.

Then decide.

Is it worth the extra money to you?

For some people the answer will be yes.

For others it will be no.

That's completely fine.

Why We Can't Offer Those Prices Forever

Running a network the way we do costs more.

More engineers. More support staff. More investment in systems and infrastructure.

If we permanently lowered our prices to match the cheapest providers, we would eventually have to operate like them too.

That's not a trade-off we're willing to make.

Who Launtel Probably Isn't For

Launtel isn't the right provider for everyone.

If your goal is simply to find the cheapest internet connection available, there are plenty of providers who will beat our price.

If you're happy switching providers every six months chasing introductory deals, you can probably save money doing that.

But if you value:

  • a carefully engineered network
  • support staff who understand the technology
  • fast, competent help when something goes wrong
  • a provider that doesn't play pricing games
  • stable low-latency international connections

…then Launtel might be worth trying.

Which is exactly why the intro pricing exists.

A Simple Way to Explain Launtel

If you're referring someone to Launtel, this is probably the simplest explanation:

Launtel isn't the cheapest provider. They invest heavily in their network and employ far more staff than most providers their size, so the service tends to be better — but it costs a bit more. The intro pricing just lets you try it before deciding if it's worth it.

If you're referring someone to Launtel and they ask why we're different, feel free to send them this article. It probably explains it better than most people want to type out in a message.
